William A. Bender, Sr., 94, of Whitesboro passed away on the morning of Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home. He was born on December 2, 1920 in Utica, N.Y., son of Daniel and Elen Bender. He graduated from T.R. Proctor High School in 1938 and served his country in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He was honorably discharged and was self-employed as a masonry contractor for over 50 years. In his later years he maintained and repaired stonework at Forest Hill Cemetery. He had a love of the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. On December 18, 1948, he married the former Jean Failing. In addition to his wife of 66 years, Jean, he is survived by his two sons, William (Linda) Bender Jr. of Central Square and John Bender of Whitesboro, and one grandson, William Bender III of Havertown, PA. Services and interment are private and at the convenience of the family.
