Obituary

William "Bill" Alexander Evans,aka "Rory" 63, of New Hartford, NY, departed this life on April 11, 2023.

Bill was born in Utica, NY, the son of the late Dr. Edward G. Evans and Theresa White Ibbotson.  He graduated from UFA High School and  MVCC, Utica College with an Associate degree in Psychology.  After graduation, he worked with disabled adults and then in New York State Department of Corrections, until he retired.

Bill drove around town in a fastback mustang with the license plate "Welshman" which was his identity.

Bill attended Welsh services with his father where they sang Welsh hymns. His great grandfather preached at the historic Stone Church in Remsen.  He preferred to spend time in that area where he spent many hours enjoying the woods and wildlife on the family property.  He was a gentle soul who was kind to everyone.   He  loved to feed the wildlife  near his mother's home.  He enjoyed the quiet of the Adirondacks and learning about sport cars.

Bill was caring person who did his best to get through what life had to offer.Remsen is known for many Welsh settlers.They were known for their love of song. Bill. his father and brother attended the Cymanfa Gamu in NYC.This is a Welsh tradition, a festival of sacred hymns sung in four part harmony by the attendees.

Bill will be sadly missed by his mother Theresa White Ibbotson, his siblings, Gordon Evans, Edward Evans, Wendy Evans and Deborah Evans, several nieces and nephews, friends, John and Sue Secor, Janet, Shelley and Eric Grabowski as well friends in  Utica-Remsen, NY. He was laid to rest at the family plot in Forest Hill Cemetery. Utica,NY
