Wendy Estelle (Jones) Kirley, 66, a native of Utica, passed away, as a result of complications from multiple sclerosis, with her daughter by her side at the Folts Home in Herkimer on June 8, 2016.
Wendy was born in Utica on August 13, 1949 to Wilton and Dolores Berrie Jones. She was raised in Utica and attend Utica Free Academy. She had an identical twin sister, Penny. They were the oldest daughters in a family of 11 children. On October 16, 1965 she married her soulmate, David J. Kirley, in Utica, with whom she had three daughters. They were married for 44 years, until his passing on January 10, 2010. Wendy was known for the unconditional love she had for her family and unwavering faith in the Lord. One of her passions was singing praise and worship. She was a member of the Valley Voices. She had a natural gift of song, and further developed her gift as a student at the Parker School of Music. She enjoyed singing with her husband accompanying her on the guitar. Wendy worked for many years as a Nurse's Aide, at the Swancott Home and later St. Elizabeth's Hospital, before following God's calling to serve others through The Rescue Mission as a Therapy Aide. When their daughters left the nest, Wendy and David settled in Pulaski. They spent their free time camping all over the Adirondacks, and enjoyed getting the canoe out to go fishing. She enjoyed reading a good book and playing BINGO. Her family and friends knew her to be a kind, generous, joyful, genuine person.
Wendy is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: KellyAnn & Mike Stanczyk, of Cold Brook, and Charlene & Thad Main, of Lake Orion, Michigan; two granddaughters: Danielle (Rasmussen) Biro, of Floyd, and Jenilee Potempa, of Cold Brook; three grandsons: Erik Rasmussen, of Barneveld, Thadius Main, of Washington D.C., and Hunter Main, of Lake Orion, Michigan; five great-grandchildren: Lorelai, Wyatt, & Blaise Walker, and Adeline & Estella Biro, all of Floyd. She also leaves behind four sisters and brothers-in-law: Lynda Rocker & Bernie Shorey, of Remsen, Terry & Gerald Atwell, of Sauquoit, Cheryl & George David, of Utica, and Tammy & Jeff Gilmore, of Yorkville; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Alan & Debbie Jones, of Marcy, Dean & Pam Jones, of Deerfield, and Greg & Coleen Jones, of Utica; her brother-in-law Colin Kirley, and wife, Sandy. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband, Wendy was predeceased by their newborn daughter, Barbara Jean in 1968; her brother, Wilton Jr. in 1988, her nephew, Jayson Lyness in 1996, her twin sister, Penny Herr in 2007, her brother-in-law, Howard Kirley in 2009, sister-in-law, Joan Kirley in 2011, and her sister, Joni Sparrow in 2013.
Family and friends are invited to a service to celebrate her life on June 17, 2016 from 4:00pm at Center Point Christian Fellowship 8021 State Route 12, Barneveld, NY 13304 with Pastor Wayne Clemens officiating.
