Stanley J.
Goworek
February 29, 2024
Stanley J. Goworek, 96, of Marcy, NY, was called home to his eternal rest on February 29, 2024, at the Presbyterian Home. He was born on November 17, 1927 to the late Joseph and Agnes (Irosz) Goworek in Rome, NY. He was a graduate of Rome High School. Stanley proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home, where he began a career at Revere, Copper and Brass that spanned well over 4 decades. His work ethic and dedication to his work were unparalleled, and these values he carried into every aspect of his life. He was united in marriage to Nancy E. Sadler (nee Weiler) on September 17, 1972; a blessed union of over 51 years.
Stanley loved working with his hands. During the warmer months, he could be found in his beloved garden, quietly tending his crops and flowers. When the weather turned, he would retreat to the serenity of his basement workshop, where he would skillfully craft wood into beautiful works of art, a testament to his love for woodworking. In his later years, he was affectionately known as the "magnet man". He created and shared hundreds of hand-made patriotic-themed magnets that brightened the lives of those around him. He always took pride in his service to our great nation and this was another way for him to spread that love.
Stanley was active in many local clubs including the Utica Maennerchor, the Utica Polish Community Club and the Rome Polish Home, where was a lifetime member. For many years, he and his loving wife, could always be found at local Polka dances, where they would dance and twirl with big smiles on their faces.
Stanley leaves behind his beloved wife, Nancy, his daughter Dorothy (John) Bennett and his granddaughters Katherine and Bridget Bennett of New Hartford, NY. He joins his parents and brothers, Joseph, Robert, and Edward, who preceded him in death.
In keeping with Stanley's wishes, there will be no visitation. A private, graveside service to honor his life will be conducted in the late spring at a time convenient to the family. The John L. Matt Funeral Home in Chadwicks, NY, is entrusted with the arrangements. To send an online greeting go to; www.johnlmattfuneralhome.com
Let us remember Stanley J. Goworek as a loving husband, father and grandfather, a proud veteran, and a craftsman of both the soil and the saw. His memory will live on in the works that he lovingly created and in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest now in peace until we are all meet again.
