Scott James Abiusi, age 57 passed away unexpectedly on December 7 after a long illness which had caused him to be in and out of the hospital over the last few years.

Scott is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Dombroski Marose, and father James P. Abiusi. He is survived by his stepmother Carol Abiusi, many Aunts & Uncles, and a multitude of cousins on both sides of his family.  Scott's family would like to recognize his companion Hanna Raffi, his cousins Andrea LoParco, John Del Buono and Nick Abiusi for all their support over the last few years.

Scott was a freelance writer and an activist for many causes. Scott was a veracious reader who loved DC comics, with Batman being his favorite character.  Looking back, it may be the character's ability to fight for others who could not defend themselves that appealed to Scott and lead to his activist passions.

Scott loved New York State and in particular New York City, whose rich history and diverse cultures lead him to live on Long Island for many years.

There will be no funeral or memorial service as Scott's family gathered privately to honor his life.
