Salvatore (Butch) Calenda, 71, of Utica,departed this life on Feb 14,2016, with his loved ones by his side.

He was born in Utica, the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Calenda, and was educated in local schools. He enlisted in the US Navy during the Vietnam crisis.

Sal worked for Westmoreland Iron and JPJ Electronics for many years. He was lastly employed as a security guard with Faxton Hospital and Special Metals.

He is survived by his former spouse, Linda Calenda, and his children, Anthony Calenda and Cheryl Calenda and her spouse Joe Alberico, Francine Calenda Siciliano and her husband, Michael, and John Calenda. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren, Lissette Guzman, Joey, Alex and Bella Alberico, Rebecca and Michael Siciliano. Also surviving are three great grandchildren Anthony, Jackson and Nadia.

Salvatore's Celebration of life will be held at 4p.m. on Saturday, February 20,2016, at the John L Matt Funeral Home, 3309 Oneida St. Chadwicks NY. Friends may call from 2-4 prior to the service.
