Mr. Roger Swartfiguer, 80, of New Hartford,NY entered into rest on Saturday November 5,2011 at Faxton St.Luke's healthcare with his loved ones by his side. He was born In Yonkers,NY the son of the late William and Nellie Salisbury Swartfiguer and received his education at New Hartford Schools graduating withe the class of 1950. On November 23,1952 he married the former Julie Gordon, she died on May 8,1984. Roger was a self employed skilled carpenter and worked through out the area for years. Mr. Swartfiguer dedicated forty four years of his life for the betterment of his community through the Lions Club International. He joined the Sauquoit Valley Lions on October 1 1967, later transferring to the New Hartford Club. He served as district Governor in 1975/76 and again in 2004/05. Throughout his years of local service,he also served as President,Vice President, and Chairman of the Board for the Lions Foundation at Albany,NY. Presently, Roger was Board Chairman of the Northeast Sight Society at the Lions Eye bank at Albany,NY. He will be sadly missed by his family; Two daughters and son-in-law; Ms. Madeline Bruni, Clinton, NY, Susan Eychner and her husband William, of Whitesboro,NY, ; Two sons and daughter -in-law; Roger Swartfiguer, Pensacola,Fl. and Jeff Swartfiguer and his wife Kathleen of Rome, NY. His sister and Brother-in-law Linda Miller and her husband Donald of Ilion, NY.A special Nephew Dick Tulloch. Five Grandchildren; Cheryl and Michelle Bruni; William & Robert Eychner; Zackary Swartfiguer and five great grandchildren; Noah Daley Bruni & Lillian Bruni; William O. Eychner, III & Mark Eychner, Juliannah Eychner. Also surviving Roger's close companion Lettie Saheim. He was predeceased by his three sisters Dora, Jean, Carol; one brother William and great grandchild Robert Eychner, Jr. Roger's Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m.Thursday November 10,2011 at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Friends may call 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday November 9, 2011 at The John L. Matt Funeral Home, 3309 Oneida St. Chadwicks, NY. The Lions prayer service will be at 4p.m. .
