Mr. Robert C. Morse, 64 of Marcy, NY and formerly of the Sauquoit Valley passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 with his loved ones by his side.
"Bob" was born August 22, 1951 in Colorado Springs, CO the son of the late Charles and Alice Price Morse. He was educated in Bridgewater schools, and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a Marine assigned to MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group) where he earned several awards and medals, including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, 3 Purple Heart Medals, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He was wounded three times in battle during the Vietnam War and later transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve as a Gunnery Sergeant and fulfilled that position for many years until retiring.
Bob was self-employed as a cabinet maker for many years. He married the former Mary Ann Palkowski Senk in Bridgewater, NY, on September 29, 1977. They resided in Laurens, NY until retirement and then moved to Snug Harbor, Hertford, NC. Mary Ann passed away on July 5, 2014.
He is survived by his son, Patrick William (Michelle Wheaton) Morse, Groton, NY; his daughter, Bobbi Jo (Randy) Sutherland, Stittville, NY; his stepsons, John (Laura) Senk, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Steven "Louie" (Lisa) Senk, Frankford, NY, George (Bonnie) Snyder III, Oneonta, NY, Donald (Nancy) Snyder, Fly Creek, NY, Richard (Tonia) Schmitt, Milford, NY; 13 grandchildren; his sisters, Beverley Windover, Clark Mills, NY, Patricia (John) Phoenix, Ilion, NY, and Barbara Emperato, Auburn, NY; special friend, Mike Revels, Snug Harbor, Hertford, NC; the mother of his children, Patti Drake Laymon, West Winfield, NY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you to great nephew Brandon Stevens for his care during Bob's illness. He will be sadly missed by his family. He was predeceased by two brothers Alfred Race and Donald Race; and a sister Mary Jane Race.
Graveside services will be held at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, NY where full military honors will be offered at 10 am on Friday August 26 2016.
