Richard McElroy, 67, the son of Richard and Mary Smirco McElroy, formerly of Tully and Fabius, departed this life on October 18, 2021, at  The Grand in Utica, surrounded by his children. Richard was predeceased by his beloved sister Linda McElroy Brothers in 2015.  He is survived by his 5 children, Richard (Austin) Velieff of Dunkirk, Jennifer (Aj) Hewitt of Lafayette, William (Rhiannon) McElroy of Preble, Michael (Cara) McElroy of Tully, and Andrea Charette of Tully and their mother Diane Hollenbeck Foster of Tully.   Richard also leaves behind 12 grandchildren Benjamin Shaw, Jackson, Emmaline, and Willow McElroy of Preble, Payton, Layla, Avalynn, Ellyanna, and Braylee Hewitt of Lafayette, Cassidy and Tanner Charette and Easton McElroy of Tully.  Also left to cherish his memory are Linda's children Heather Brothers, Melissa Miller, and Christopher Brothers with their children as well as his lifelong friend, Sandra Eaton of Tully.  Services are private at the family's convenience.
