Richard (Dick) J. Knight, 64, returned to his creator on November 25, 2011.
He was born in Utica, NY, on August 25, 1947, the son of Horace and Jennie Beaudry Knight. After his formal education and training, Richard received his Barber License and opened his own business in Chadwicks, renowned throughout the area. On his days off Richard would visit area hospitals and Nursing Homes, donating his trade to all who were in need of a shave and a haircut. Richard joined the US Navy during the Vietnam War and proudly served on the Battleship New Jersey and was honorably discharged from the Naval reserves in 1975. After serving his country, Richard returned to his Barber Shop to work until his retirement. He was a proud member of the DAV chapter 82.
In 1975, Richard married his soul-mate Kathleen Pryor. They shared 37 loving and faithful years together.
Richard had a life-long passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing and shooting. He especially enjoyed the many hours talking about it with his father-in-law, John. As a young man he boxed for recreation and was thrilled watching all levels of boxing matches. He loved reading his Bible and truly enjoyed his lemon meringue pie.
He was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. His laugh was a burst of joy to hear.
Along with his wife Kathy, Richard also cherished his son, daughter, daughter-in-law and took special pride in his three grandchildren, Livy, Lyra, and Michael. The girls will greatly miss their Grandpa "BoBo."
Richard's smile, laugh, and passion for everything he loved will live on forever through all those left behind. In our hearts, Richard will forever be following that buck through the brush and watching his favorite boxer dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Kathy) Pryor Knight; son, Mark and Jaci Knight of Huntersville, NC; granddaughters, Livy and Lyra; daughter, Maureen and Cliff Bleau and grandson, Michael Ruggerio; sisters, Geraldine K. Jones of North Bay, NY & Jacqueline and Fred Darling of Washington Mills; brother, David M.
