Raymond J. Arcuri, 95, of Herkimer, NY, and formerly of Utica, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Foltsbrook Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Utica, NY, the son of the late Joseph Arcuri and Petronella (Gentile) Arcuri. Raymond attended Proctor High School and enlisted in the United States Army on September 10, 1948. He was trained as a radio operator and later stationed in Nuremberg, Germany. While serving overseas, he was assigned to Special Communications Services and attained the rank of Corporal. Raymond received an honorable discharge in June of 1952.
Following his military service, Raymond was employed by General Electric. He later dedicated 11 years of service as a police officer with the Utica Police Department. His career concluded at Utica College, where he served as Chief of Security and retired after 24 years of dedicated service.
Raymond is survived by his sister, Janet Cannistra of Utica. He is also survived by his three daughters and son‑in‑law: Donna Arcuri and her husband, Michael Dragonetti, of Connecticut; Paula Arcuri of Connecticut; and Gina Lynch of Rochester; as well as his daughter‑in‑law, Lorrie Arcuri of Ilion. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and their spouses: Ashley and Daniel Curri of Frankfort; Jessica and Jeff Reilly of New Hartford; Michael Anaston of Connecticut; Jesse Anaston of Connecticut; Jillian Ferrari of Rochester; and John Lynch of Rochester. Raymond also leaves behind his cherished great‑grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and close family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sally L. Arcuri (Balsamo) of Frankfort, and his son, Raymond A. Arcuri of Ilion.
Raymond grew up as one of twenty‑one children and was the youngest of the brothers. He was predeceased by his siblings: Rose M. Rescigno; Antoinette “Lalla” Durante; Josephine Zegarelli; Congetta “Connie” Rotach‑Marine; Mary Kaufman; Amelia “Mal” Jones; Salvatore “Savy” Arcuri; Victor “Vito” Arcuri; Dominick “Babe” Arcuri; Nicholas L. Arcuri, Sr.; Peter Arcuri; and Alexander “Allie” Arcuri. He was also predeceased by several siblings who passed away in infancy.
A chapel service with military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery Upper Chapel at 12 Noon Friday May 8,2026 with military honors conferred. In accordance with Raymond’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.
