Obituary

Mr. Michael W. Fanelli, Sr. 68, of Utica,NY entered into rest on Jan. 27, 2018 with his loved ones by his side after a gallant fight with cancer.

Mike was born in Utica, NY to the late Michael and Carmela Britelli Fanelli. He attended Utica schools and was a graduate of UFA.

Mike was employed by the City of Utica for 44 years . He took great pride and passion in his work at the "Sign Shop" he truly loved the city. Mike worked under several Mayors throughout the years. He was highly thought of by all the Mayoral Administrations.

Mike loved the outdoors. He enjoyed sunny days at the beach as much as he did his back deck. Mike loved hunting, fishing, mushroom picking, his camp and walking his German Shepherds.

Mike had a passion for life, his family, friends and his morning coffee group @ Joey's.

Mike loved to cook and would make traditional Italian meals every Sunday for his family and friends. Mike volunteered at the Hope House and would cook delicious meals for the patrons at Hope House. He also volunteered delivering Thanksgiving meals with his grandson Billy.

Mike was great father, brother, grandfather and friend. He has left an unfillable void in his family.

Mike is survived by his two children; Kelly Fanelli and Michael Fanelli,Jr ( Jennifer) his three grandchildren Billy Fanelli ( Samantha) Alexandria, Christopher and one great grandson Liam. Mike also leaves his twin sister Birdie Demme and her husband Joe, his nieces Michelle Randall and Cherese Cosentino, his brother in law Nicholas Trivieri, Mike also leaves his companion Sara Maxwell, and his best friend Mike Lynch,Sr. and his family that he thought of as his own. Mike also leaves behind his dog Bella. His sister Marilyn J. Trivieri and niece Carmelyn Hevey predeceased him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of Mike's friend and co-workers from DPW and the City of Utica, they all brought Mike so much happiness.

We would also like to thank Dr. Butala and his NP Tonya and Staff, and the 6th floor nursing staff at St.Luke's Hosp.

Michael's celebration of life will be held on Thursday February 8,2018 at 1p.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Blessed Sacrament Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Salerno and Deacon Tim Foley.
