Mary Alexander, 89, of Whitesboro, departed this life on Tuesday January 18, 2022, at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare.  Born on Oct 22, 1932 in Tellahoma, Tennesee , as Ruth Sherrill, daughter of the late Conner Leonard Sherrill and Lena Riddle.  She changed her name after her mother remarried, to Mary Ruth Kerr.  She graduated from Ithaca High School.  On April 15, 1953, Mary was united in marriage with Dominic Alexander, a devoted union for 44 years, until his passing on June 10, 1997.

Mary enjoyed golf, cross country skiing, quilting, volunteering, playing bridge, annual trips to the beach and spending time with her family.  She was a communicant of New Hartford's United Methodist Church.

Mary will be sadly missed by her son, Steven N. Alexander, her daughter, Cindy Alexander and her children Tyler and Tatum.   Also surviving are her two sisters, Dorothy Benjamin and husband Wallace, JoAnn Van Orman, several nieces and nephews.

Mary's Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 1:15 p.m. at New Hartford Methodist Church, 105 Genesee St New Hartford, NY, where the Rev. David McKinney will officiate.   Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00p.m. at the church prior to the service. Guests must wear mask covering nose and mouth adhering to County law.
