Marshall S. Sprague of Utica, New York left us for his next big adventure on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
Originally a resident of Connecticut, he spent the last 16 years upstate where he settled in 2007. He is survived by his son Justin, wife Donna, mother Marion, sisters Marilyn, Mary, and Michele, brothers Martin and Michael, and step-son Thomas. He was predeceased by his father Merle and brother Merle Jr.
It was often said that Marshall had nine lives. That is to say, he often took risks (with many being a bit hairy). He lived fearlessly and I admire that. My dad taught me that a life without risk has little payoff.
He dreamt big. There was always an ambitious plan on the horizon. Whether it was to manage an all season campground or to build a cabin with an inground pool for his grandkids, Marshall's enthusiasm over big projects carried through various aspects of his life.
Marshall was a carpenter by trade and never shied away from extraneous work. Give him a challenge and he'd take it on. He could build you a house with just a vision and a Lowes card.
Though it'll never feel like enough, I cherish every memory I have of him and I know those close to him feel the same.
A service will be held to honor his memory on Friday, January 20 at 11am at the John L. Matt Funeral Home in Chadwicks, NY. To send an online greeting go to:www.johnlmattfuneralhome.com
