Marlene Wheeler, 88, of New Hartford, NY and formerly of Sauquoit , NY, departed this life on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Presbyterian Home.

She was born in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of the late Victor and Melvina ( Young ) Harb. She was educated there.

In 1955, she met and was united in marriage to Donald F. Wheeler; the couple spent 59 years together until his passing in 2014. Marlene was a sales clerk for E. Cramer and Son, besides being committed to raising her family.

She will be sadly missed and is survived by her daughter, Gail Welty and husband, Stephen; brother, David V. Harb and his wife, Kathy; sister-in-law, Betty Hayduck and family; beloved grandchildren, Jessica Fredricks and spouse, Sarah, Ryan Wheeler, Stephaine Wheeler and her fiancé, Chris, Nick Wheeler, Rachael Rutledge and partner Kit, Kaitlin Rutledge, Deidre Welty and her husband, Chris and Steve Welty and wife, Helena; great-grandchildren, Zachary Wheeler and his wife, Lisa, Jacob, Austyn, Hayden, Corbin, Kennadie, Owen, Mya, Maxx, Carson, Colton and Calen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, of 59 years, Donald Wheeler; son, Gary Wheeler; daughter, Linda Wheeler; and sisters, Emily Harb and Bernice Rank.

Marlene's Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 1 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Friends may visit at 11 a.m. til 12 noon at the John L. Matt Funeral Home, 3309 Oneida St., Chadwicks.
