Mrs. Margerite J. Scheri, 91, of Cape Coral, Fl, formerly of Utica, entered into rest on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 at Hope Hospice Cape Coral, with her loved ones by her side.
She was born in Patchogue, Long Island, the daughter of the late John and Emma (White) Kessler, and graduated from Patchogue High school. She met and married Anthony Scheri, and relocated to Utica, where she raised her family, until his passing in 1985.
Margie was a LPN at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for 16 years, where she continued her nursing profession, retiring at 81.
She is survived by her two sons, Frank Scheri and John Scheri, four daughters, Dianne Scheri, Pamela Marrone and her husband Vito, Toni Scheri, and Donna Rivera and her husband Albert. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are her sister, Amy Schlosser and her husband Bill, brother & sister-in-law, Albert Dowe and Judy Scheri, cousin, Linda Wenk, and a special nephew, Alan Oakes, who she shared a special bond. Several nieces and nephews. And her great joy, was her dog Bambi.
She was predeceased by her son, Billy Scheri, whom she cared for until his last day, her brother John Kessler, her sister Emma Kessler, and three special friends, Lena Garramone, Ada Cardillo and Theresa Olivadoti.
As per Margie's request, there are no calling hours. Her celebration of life will be held Saturday February 25, 2017 at 10 am, at Old Historic St. John's Church where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John A. Buehler, Pastor. Family will greet visitors upon the conclusion of the mass. In lieu of flowers, donation envelopes for Hope Hospice will be available at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
