Obituary

Lynn M. Fisher a former municipal historian, age 72, of Tully, NY passed away on December 22, 2016 at the Abraham Hospice House in Utica, NY after a courageous battle with advanced kidney disease. Lynn was the daughter of J.E. Fisher and Madalyn Imogene (Oster) Fisher [both deceased]. She was born in Peoria, IL and graduated from Academy High School in Erie, PA in 1962.

She attended Edinboro University and graduated from Syracuse University in 1966, and obtained a Master's Degree in Library Science from SU in 1972. She worked as a children's librarian at the Betts Branch Library in Syracuse, NY and was a town and village historian in Tully, NY for many years. Lynn also worked as the Executive Director of the Tully Area Historical Society.

She is survived by a sister, Laura J. Lockwood, of Camillus, NY a brother, Brian L. Fisher, of Tully, NY, a Great Aunt Pauline of Peoria, IL and several cousins in Illinois and Texas.

A memorial service is planned for the spring 2017 in Tully and internment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso, IL. The John L. Matt Funeral Home in Chadwicks, NY is handling the current cremation arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Abraham Hospice House in Utica, NY, the Tully Area Historical Society, and the Cortland County SPCA. Lynn's family would especially like to thank the staff at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY, Hospice and Palliative Care of Oneida County, John L. Matt, and the Abraham House for their dedicated assistance and compassionate end-of-life care.
