Loring David Cantrell, 70, of Rome, NY departed this life on June 1,2026 at Rome Hospital after a long illness.

Loring was born Ft. Myers, Florida the son of the late Clyde D. Cantrell and Dorothy A. Jones Cantrell.

He attended Sam Houston University to become a teacher and went to the College of the Mainland. He was also a mechanic for a time, worked for Lowes and McCoys in Texas.

He lived in Texas where he married Ethel Williams and had two daughters, Amber and Elise. He had four grandchildren, Mathew, Kaley, Aiden and Xavier.

In 2008 he moved to upstate NY, while there he worked at the Rome Sentinel and the Dollar Tree, both in Rome, NY where he resided.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters and family. He leaves many friends specially Lori Merritt.
