Linda L.
Rockwell Evans
April 12, 2026
Linda Lee Rockwell Evans, 81, of Sauquoit, NY, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on April 12, 2026.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1944, to Frank Rockwell and Margaret Laux of Remsen, NY.
She is survived by her loving children: daughter Leslie Rockwell of Massachusetts; daughter
Denise and son‑in‑law Gary Lubey of New York Mills, NY; son John and daughter‑in‑law
Jennifer Evans of Nine Mile Falls, WA; daughter Tanya and son‑in‑law Chris Fiore of Sauquoit,
NY; as well as her many grandchildren and great‑grandchildren.
She is dearly loved and will be missed by her siblings: brother Doug and sister‑in‑law Patricia
Rockwell of Clinton, NY; sister Elizabeth "Betty" and predeceased brother-in-law, Wayne
Laribee, of Remsen; brother Richard "Dick" and predeceased sister-in-law, Sandy Rockwell, of
Remsen; sister Mary Jane and brother‑in‑law Mike Dion of Windsor Locks, CT; and she was
predeceased by her sister Nancy Reed of Florida.
Linda loved to read a good crime novel and to go on long rides through the countryside. She
especially loved stopping along the way to grab a bite to eat at quaint diners and cafés. She
enjoyed playing horseshoes, even participating in a league at one time. She was also an avid
card player, whether playing solitaire by herself or pitch with others. You would not dare touch
her deck of cards unless you were ready to play a game with her. She enjoyed dancing and
getting together with family, watching whodunit shows and cooking competitions on television,
and she always looked forward to Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy in the evenings. She was a
loving, caring woman with a stubborn, feisty personality that made her truly special.
At her request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Instead, her wishes were for
friends and family to celebrate her life.
In her honor, there will be a celebration of life at the Veterans of Foreign Wars lodge at 21 Garden Street in New York Mills, NY, on Sunday April 19 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the guidance of John L Matt Funeral Home, Chadwicks,NY.
