Mr. Leon B. Cieniewicz, 87, of New Hartford, NY departed this life on Saturday April 22, 2023, at St. Luke's Home.

He was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Frank and Sophia Emielita Cieniewicz and was educated there and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1957.

Leon furthered his education and attended Devry Technical Institute in Chicago where he met Ellen O'Donnell and the two were united in marriage in 1960. His beloved wife Ellen passed on July 12, 2020

The couple came to the Utica area in 1960 where Leon was employed at General Electric Aerospace. Where he worked for 31 years, retiring in 1991.

He was an avid fisherman and snowmobiler and was a member and president of the Sauquoit Valley Frosty Knights.

He will be sadly missed by his sons, Tom Cieniewicz, Joseph Cieniewicz and his wife Karen, Daniel Cieniewicz and his wife Denise, Grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, Thomas, Michael, Joseph, Jonathan, Tabitha, Daniel and Samantha, also numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He  was predeceased by his 8 siblings.

Leon's graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at St Mary's Cemetery Clayville, NY with military honors conferred.
