Jules Kulatchkov ,at age 77 departed this life on July 17, 2018 at his residence at Focus Rehab and Nursing Utica, NY.

Jules was  born February 16, 1941 in Russia, the son of the late Terenty and Serafima Lukianenko Kulatchkov. After WWII ended, the family moved to Belgium, and lived there for five years, earning enough money to come to America. As a child in Belgium, he would take his rationed meal and give it to the recently orphaned children next door. His mother questioned him about the disappearing food, and he he finally told his mother about the delivery of food to the orphaned children. It was hard to be mad at him for his kindness and good heart.
His family arrived in America with the help of the Tolstoy Foundation in 1952, and they settled in Paterson, New Jersey. Later in life, he lived and worked as a cook at a monastery in Jordanville, New York.
He is survived by his wife Carol Hailstork, his two sisters, and six nieces.

Jules visitation will be at the chapel at Focus Rehab and Nursing Center on Tuesday ( today )July 24,2018 from 10 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. where a prayer service will follow at the end of the visitation.
