Joseph (Joe) A. LaPointe, 62, passed away unexpectedly after a short battle with cancer on December 24, 2022 at his home in Sauquoit NY, where he resided with long time girlfriend Amy Mathers.
Joseph comes from a large family, He was 8 th child of the 12 children that his father Archie LaPointe and mother Theresa LaPointe had during their longtime union before they departed their lives.
Joseph is survived by, 2 daughters and 1 son Tongale LaPointe, Chasity LaPointe and Sean LaPointe, from his marriage of over 20 years to Colleen Moylan. His daughter in law, Vanessa Williams/ LaPointe. Many grandchildren and one great grandson.
Also surviving are his 4 brothers, Bruce LaPointe, Edmond (Eddie) LaPointe, Michael (Mike) LaPointe, Victor LaPointe and 6 sisters, Shirley Caldwell, Linda LaPointe, Amanda LaPointe, Joann Vosburgh, Nancy LaPointe and Theresa (Twiggy) LaPointe. He was predeceased by his sister Sherry Kotary.
Joseph worked at Minit Car Wash for many years, on top of whatever he could do to provide for his family. He was a jack of all trades and could figure out anything mechanical and loved to tinker and build things out of scrap metal.
Joseph was an active man he loved to be outside, he was always camping/ fishing/ hiking taking his family on adventures to fishing holes or taking a dirt road and calling it a shortcut. He had an avid love for demolition derby racing that he shared with his son Sean, who continues to derby today. He always took time to be involved with his family and would do anything for anyone if able and if not he will still try.

Services will be held Monday January 9,2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the John L Matt Funeral Home, 3309 Oneida St. Chadwicks, NY where Deacon Jim Henck will officiate and family and friend will gather to celebrate his life. To send an online greeting go to ww.johnlmattfuneralhome.com
