Joseph A. Beratta, 87, of Utica departed this life on Monday January 9, 2023 at St Elizabeth's Medical Center.

Joe was born in Utica, NY, the son of the late Carmen and Anna Iovine Beratta. He was educated there and was a graduate of Proctor High School.  He enlisted in the US Military in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was united in marriage with the former Christine Merlino on May 24, 1960, in Long Beach, CA and she died in 2009.  He was lastly employed with Par Technologies for many years, retiring in 2000. Joe  was predeceased by his son Michael Beratta in 2015.

Joe is survived by his son Christopher Beratta, of Chadwicks, NY, his daughter Lisa Beratta, and his grandson Denis Beratta  also of  Chadwicks, NY.

Services for Joseph will be held at 5p.m. Thursday January 19,2023 at The John L Matt Funeral Home, 3309 Oneida St. Chadwicks, NY. Friends may visit from 3-5 prior to the service.   To send an online greeting, go to www.johnlmattfuneralhome.com
