Mr. John L. Wheeler,70, of Sauquoit, NY entered into rest on August 6, 2015, with his family by his side. He was born in Utica, the son of the late Louis and Helen Collis Wheeler, attended the Sauquoit schools and graduated in 1963. John enlisted in the US Army and served as a mechanic during the Vietnam War. He returned back to the US where he operated the family Dairy farm. He was member of the Edward Clonan VFW Post 1000,Chadwicks,NY. He will be sadly missed by his beloved family; his three daughters and son-in-law, Leona Sherman, Melissa and Kevin Sloma and Lynn Roback; one son, Brian Sherman; two brothers, Edward Wheeler and his wife, Karen, and Arthur Wheeler; his sister Doris Brouillette; his sister-in-law and special friend Rita Foley. and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Always close to his heart, was his life long partner, Gertrude Marriott, who predeceased him on July 8,2013. John's celebration of life will be held Sunday at 5p.m. at the John L Matt Funeral Home, 3309 Oneida St Chadwicks, NY. Friends may call Sunday from 2p.m. until 5p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland,NY.
