Mr. John J. "Sonny" Jassak, 75, of Utica, NY, departed this life at home with his loved ones by his side on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

Sonny was born in Utica, NY, on May 3, 1947, the son of the late John and Jennie Buczek Jassak and was a graduate of Whitesboro Class of 1964.  He enlisted in the U.S.Army, on April 4, 1966.  Having served one year in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged on April 3, 1969.  He was the owner of John's Auto Repair for 15 years and then became operation manager for Quick change, retiring after 23 years of service.  After his retirement, small engine repair became his hobby at his home along with the rebuilding of his 1930 Ford Model A.

Sonny will be sadly missed by his wife Suzanne, sons Vincent Jassak and his wife Nora, Jason Jassak and Joseph Jassak, his daughter, Jenifer Bartholomeo and her husband John.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Alexa, Lukas, Mikey, Olaya, and Benjamin.  He also leaves his siblings Teddy (Denise) Jassak,, Irene (Brian) Pantola and Susie (Bob) Springer. There are no calling hours.

Sonny's Celebration of life will be held on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Pauls Catholic Church, Whitesboro, NY,  were a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the by the Rev. Thomas Durant, Pastor, with military honors conferred. Family will greet visitors upon conclusion of the mass.  Interment will be held at Crown Hill Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
