Mr. John Dackowsky, 85, of Cassville, NY, entered into rest Sunday morning, November 25, 2012, at St. Elizabeth's Medial Center. John was born in Mt. Kisco, NY, the son of the late Michael and Mary Kostieu Dackowsky. He was a graduate of Sauquoit High School and furthered his education at Cornell College to study veterinary medicine. In 1951 John enlisted in the United States Marines, excelled in artillery ballistics and meteorology and was honorably discharged in 1954. John married the former Olga Rose Palamarczuk in 1955 and from that union they had three sons, John, Michael and James, and a daughter Roseanne. Mr. Dackowsky was the owner and operator of the Damadale dairy farm for many years until he retired in 1990. He loved working with the soil and turning wasteland into cropland. He was a humanitarian and conservationist, receiving numerous awards and plaques honoring him for his accomplishments. John is survived by his wife Olga, his sons; John and wife Wanda, of Clayville, Michael and James Dackowsky of Cassville, and his daughter Roseanne Grimaldi and husband Richard of Sauquoit. He is also survived by his sister Catherine Leonard and 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. John will be sadly missed by his care giver and best friend Dianne Malysa of Cassville, along with his border collies, Tippy and Sgt. Pepper.
