Joan Marie Terpstra, 85, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, at the Presbyterian Nursing Home with her devoted husband by her side. Born on February 8, 1939, in Utica, NY, Joan was the cherished daughter of Lillian and Robert Magadieu, both of whom predeceased her.

Joan grew up in Sauquoit, NY, and graduated from Sauquoit High School. She pursued her passion for health and wellness at Morrisville University, where she earned her degree. Joan enjoyed a fulfilling career as a diet technician, retiring from St. Luke's Hospital. In retirement, she found joy working part-time at the Cassville Library, sharing her love of books with the community.

With an adventurous spirit, Joan loved traveling and visiting family, often taking the opportunity to stop at casinos along the way, where she enjoyed playing the slot machines.

Joan is survived by her beloved spouse, John Terpstra; her children, Robert & Yvonne Parsons, Doreen Jordan Colleen and Jim Marble, Christina and Thomas Weigand, and Wendy and John Firsching;  treasured grandchildren: Jennifer, Todd, Christopher, Joshua, Keith, Justin, Sean, Quintin, Morgan, Sean, Aria and Mark; and beloved great-grandhildren, Fox, Rosalie, Violet, and Ace. She also leaves behind her sister, Gail Facchini; her close cousin, Sandy Linck; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws who were an important part of her life.

Joan's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, especially for the deep devotion she and her husband shared throughout their many years together. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hammerton Jeanty, Kim Buckas, NP, Trista Brown RN, and the compassionate staff at the Presbyterian Nursing Home for their dedicated care and support.

Joan will be missed dearly and remembered always.

Services will be Wednesday Nov.20th 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Nursing Home Chapel, 4290 Middle Settlement Rd.,New Hartford,NY where Rhonda Chester Sr. Chaplain will preside.
