Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the news of Jean Douglass, unexpected passing on Monday, May 13th, 2024, due to cardiac arrest. Born into the world as a beacon of hope on January 12th, 1970. Jean's life began with a unique journey. She was lovingly welcomed into the arms of her adopted mother, Marie Locke, whose nurturing care shaped Jean's compassionate and kind-hearted nature from an early age.

Jean cherished her relationship with her adopted mother and father, Marie and Robert Locke, who passed away when Jean was only 9 years old. She embraced the love and guidance she received, forming a bond that would endure throughout her lifetime and beyond. At the end of her mother's life, Jean was there by her mother's side, selflessly taking care of her, and she was there for her passing. Additionally, Jean maintained a connection with her biological mother, Lynn Arola, and they shared moments of joy, laughing and affection.

In 2000, she moved with her then-husband, Michael Douglass, and their children to Utica, New York. There, just as in her hometown, she touched the lives of countless people and made many friends.

Throughout her life, Jean's unwavering faith and boundless generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a heart of gold, often extending her hand to those in need. Jean would go out of her way to give money to the homeless, offer people rides wherever they needed to go, and even give away food to those who were hungry. She had a remarkable ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, and her laugh and smile were both uplifting and unforgettable.

Jean's journey was marked by resilience and triumph, as she overcame addiction, a testament to her strength and determination. Jean had a rare gift of making everyone feel welcomed and accepted in her presence. People felt the freedom to be themselves around her knowing they would never be judged, but rather embraced with love and understanding.

In her spare, time she loved to have fun with her children, bird watch, spend time with her boyfriend Michael Turley, hang out with her best friend Weston Smith, give love and affection to her cats Bear, Kitty and Booger, play video games, watch animal shows, go to concerts and enjoy nature. She cherished moments of joy and especially loved having fun with her children and their friends. She loved to host gatherings at her house so all her children and their friends could have a safe and good time together. She made sure her children had a wonderful childhood full of fun accompanied with freedom, and valuable lessons about kindness and charity.

With the sadness of her passing also comes great joy and gratitude, as she is in the arms of her loving savior Jesus Christ, who died and bled for her. She is welcomed home, with her mother and father, Robert and Marie, with no more pain, sorrow, or tears. It's with joy, we tell you that she crossed over into a Heavenly Realm of perfection, peace, and joy.

Jean Marie Douglass leaves behind her daughter, Marissa Burger; her son, Darrion Douglass; her granddaughter, Eden Marie Burger; her long-term partner, Michael Turley; and her best friend, Weston Smith. She also leaves behind her beloved brothers, Robert Locke Jr. and Daniel Locke, as well as Angel Rodriguez and her biological mother, Lynn Arola.
