Following a 39-year absence from the man she loved, Jane Melchiorre, 95, was reunited with her beloved husband when she passed into the hands of the Holy Father Monday, December 3, 2018. In doing so she joined her beloved husband, Cosmo "Red" Melchiorre who preceded her passing September 15, 1979. Jane and Red were married May 1, 1948.
A native of East Utica, Jane was born to Paul Intino and Leonarda Indolfi. Her parents, were both born in the beautiful Southern Italian village of Alberobello, Province of Bari,Italy. Through their hard work and dedication to their children, Jane's parents exemplified living a Christian life which she followed by being a compassionate friend and family member.
Jane is predeceased by her infant daughter, Melinda, brothers Frank Intino, Mark Intino and Sister Catherine (Nellie) Pecci. On her husband's side, Jane is predeceased by Guy, Daniel, Frank, Alfred, Joseph, Angelo, Faustine, Ann, Marie Greco, and Angela Nole.
Jane leaves one surviving child, Gary Cosmo Melchiorre (Arlene) of North Carolina, and her beloved grandson, Garrett Scott Melchiorre, granddaughter, Barbra Bylicki, and great-grandson Johan Antonio Vega. She also leaves behind extended living members of the Melchiorre family: Nunzio Melchiorre and sister in law Lucy Segal.
Jane had a special bond with and helped nurture several nieces and nephews who predeceased her including Paul Franklin, Gates and Mark Intino, surviving great niece Mary Ann Curro, and great nephew Paul Christopher Intino. Jane also enjoyed a special bond with nieces through marriage, Janice Mazza and Linda Intino.
Jane served the majority of her career as secretary/bookkeeper with the former Keyser's Beauty Supply and the Michael Caruso Cheese Co. She enjoyed and found great pleasure in serving as a Den Mother for her son Gary's Cub Scout Troop and an active participant at the Utica YWCA. Family and friends remained a focal part of her life. Her greatest gift was making her friends feel special through her generosity and emotional support.
The Melchiorre Family is grateful to the staff at the Lutheran Care Nursing Home where Jane was a resident for the last 3 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to Lutheran Care Nursing Home, Maplewood Wing, 110 Utica St., Clinton 13323.
There will be no calling hours. A private entombment will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
