Helen I. Walker, 95, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at The Abraham House in Utica.

Helen was born in Savannah, New York, to the late Herbert and Ruby (Lanfair) Dukett, the third of thirteen children. She was educated locally and lived a full, active life. An avid hunter, golfer, and bowler, Helen was known for her independence and determination. She worked for many years in the food service industry, most notably managing Tauris Restaurant on Rutger Street in Utica.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Majka of New Hartford and Eleanor Gardner, with whom she resided. She also leaves her grandchildren, Francine Patterson-Colon, John (Heather) Patterson, Crystal Walker, Andrea (Matt) Mariani, and Alden (Stefanee) Walker III; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Kenneth Dukett; her sister, Evelyn Come; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her three sons, Baby Lynn, Sgt. Stephen V. Walker, and Alden K. Walker Jr.; and by her loving companion of 47 years, Philip F. Taurisano. She also carried close in her heart the memories of her ten siblings who passed before her.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hospice & Palliative Care, especially Irene, Crystal, and Ashley, as well as the staff and caregivers at The Abraham House of Utica and Rome for their compassionate care and support.
