Helen K. Palezny, 95, of New Hartford, NY, departed this life peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2014, at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare. Helen was born on May 10, 1918, the daughter of the late Adam and Katherine Naley Palezny. She was educated from local schools in the Utica area. Shortly after the tragedy of December 7, 1941, at Pearl Harbor, Helen graduated as a registered nurse. Thereafter, Miss Palezny enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve her country as a member of the Naval Nurse Corps. She served in the Navy from 1943-1946 and she also saw active duty in the Phillippines, during WWII. Helen was a very independent strong willed woman, she lived on her family homestead for nearly 50 years, while maintaining a private lifestyle. She loved to garden and greatly loved all animals, especially her cats and birds. Helen was predeceased by her siblings, William Palezny, Julian Palezny and Estelle Callaghan. In keeping with Helen's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Her final resting place will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, in Schuylerville, NY.
