Helen Karwacki Gmyr, 86, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Luthern Home in Clinton, NY. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anastasia Slominski Karwacki. Helen married Joseph Gmyr on October 17, 1948, a blessed union of 58 years until Joe passed away in 2007. Helen was chief clerk for Judge Pomilio in Family Court, in Utica, retiring in 1981. She played the viola in the Utica Symphony for many years and later played in several small groups. Helen loved chamber music. Helen is survived by her sister, Dorothy Baretsky of Fairport, NY, brothers-in-law, Walter and Stanley Gmyr, many nieces & nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by one brother and five sisters. There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 19 Herkimer Rd, Utica, NY, on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1 PM.
