George
Komanecky
May 28, 2020
George Komanecky, 77, passed away on May 28th, 2020 peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his daughter, Julia, and her husband, Chris and children, as well as his brother, John, and his wife, Alice and their adult children, Dave, Paul and Annie. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Elizabeth Payne, and her partner, Rich Magnuson.
George was born on April 4th, 1943 in upstate New York to Anna Simkulet and John Komanecky. His family is known for the Wy-Knot burger restaurant in upstate NY. He served in the US Army during Vietnam, 1966-69, went to college and then became an electrical and mechanical engineer. Later, he would open up his own wood-working and professional grade sound system business. He lived in Minnesota for about 50 years, moving back to upstate New York in 2005.
George loved his music, friendships and cats. His warmth and personality were renown amongst his family and friends. He and his daughter were very close. He adored becoming a Grandfather and watching his Grandsons grow. In the middle of everything currently going on in the world, he would want everyone to remember to love and live each day and care for each other.
Graveside services will be held privately at the convenience of his family. There will be no calling hours due to the current community-wide health concerns. A Memorial party may be held in a year, which will be determined by his daughter, Julia. If you would like to attend, please be in touch with the funeral home to pass your information on to her. George always said that he wanted everyone to have a party for his life instead of crying about his death.
Please only donations: in George's name to either, www.uso.org or to www.aspca.org .
Dad, you had the warmest heart, Sir! You are deeply and dearly missed! Cheers!
