Gail Young, 78, of Chadwicks, NY passed away peacefully at home on

December 16, 2025. Born in Utica, NY on August 2, 1947, she was the

daughter of Robert and Johanna Sherman. Gail was united in marriage to

Richard Young with whom she had her children, Megan and Melissa.

Gail served as the town clerk of the Town of New Hartford for 55 years

before her retirement in 2020.  She took great pride in her service to

the public and always ensured a thorough job well done.  She was a

parishioner of St. Patrick-St. Anthony's Church, where she was

actively involved for over 30 years.  She was a talented seamstress,

enjoyed gardening, dancing, reruns of The Golden Girls with a cup of

tea, and looked forward to lunch and dinner dates with her high school

girlfriends.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Young.  She is

survived by her daughters, Megan Young (Jesse) and Melissa Young; her

step-children Dex Young, Mark (Lori) Young, Kim Young; her siblings,

Dianne Stolpman, Robert Sherman (Veronica), and Maxine Szeliga

(Joseph); several nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and

great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend deep gratitude to caregivers Kylie

Mazurowski, Lily Stoltzfus, and Mallory Henderson for their support

over the years throughout Gail's illness.  They would also like to

extend a special thank you to Hospice & Palliative Care, especially

Lisa Alteri, Alyssa Curri, and Heather DeFrees for their support in

Gail's last weeks.

Gail's Celebration of life will be held Monday December 22, at 10 a.m. at

St. Patrick- St. Anthony Church, 3364 Oneida Street, Chadwicks,NY, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.

There will be a time to greet the family after the service. Inurnment will be in the spring at St. Mary's cemetery.
