Mr. Francis A. Scalzo, 74, of Clearwater, Fl entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.

Fran was born in Utica, NY, the son of the late Mario and Ida (Mezzanini ) Scalzo Sr. He was educated locally, graduating from TR Proctor High School. He attended Utica College of Syracuse University and graduated with a B.A. in social studies.

Fran started his early work at The Matt Funeral Home in East Utica, NY, working there through high school. After college he worked as a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School, a division analyst at Marine Midland Bank and later as a claims approver for MetLife/Medicare. Fran's last place of employment was at the Oneida County Probation department for 23 years.

He will be sadly missed by his family: his wife Antoinette(Martorella) Scalzo, daughter Marybeth (Scott) Timian, three sons, Joseph (Kate) Scalzo , Frank (Lori) Scalzo, Andrew (Kara) Scalzo, six grandchildren: Timothy Redmond, Gia Timian, Alexander Scalzo, Nicholas Scalzo, Ethan Scalzo, and Avery Scalzo, Surviving him is his brother Mario (Carm) Scalzo, sisters: Philomena Amodio, Josephine (John) Giacovelli ,his in-laws, Marie and Martin Cheney and Linda Specht. Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by: his sister, Mary Scalzo, nephew, Michael Amodio, nieces, Cara Scalzo and Gianna Rose Van Pelt, and brother-in-law Angelo Amodio. Fran's family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Suncoast Hospice.

Fran's Memorial Service will be held in the spring of 2019 in Utica, NY where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Further information, including church information will be forthcoming.
