Obituary

Rev. Elias A. Njeim,at age 97 entered into eternal rest Thursday Nov. 30,2017 at St.Elizabeth's Medical Center.

He was born in Britaldine, Lebanon the son of the late Assad and Wadia Azzam Njeim, and was educated in local schools. He attended the Seminary of St. Ann in Jerusalem directed by the White Fathers. He was ordained in 1958 in the Cathedral in Beruit for the Greek-Catholic Archdiocese by the Archbishop Philip Nabah.

After working for ten years in the Archdiocese, he was given permission to come to the United States where he resided in Milwaukee with his eldest sister. He worked with the Greek Catholics with the permission of the Archbishop of Milwaukee.

In 1968 during his two-year stay he worked and obtained his US citizenship. Father Njeim returned to Lebanon and worked there until 1982 when he returned and worked in Kingston , Ontario with the Ukranian community.

In 1990 he resided with his sister in Black River, New York and later moved to Utica,NY, his sister Mary died in 2006.

He is survived by his nephew, Ghassan Njeim, of Lebanon. His brother Priests and many friends also survive him in the Maronite, Melkite  and Ukrainian community. He was predeceased by his brothers Karim,Halim and Gerges Njeim.

The Divine Liturgy of the Faithfully Departed will be celebrated on Monday December 4,2017 at 2 p.m. at St Louis Gonzaga Church, celebrated by Chorbishop John D. Faris.
Interment will be in St Agnes Cemetery,Utica,NY
