Obituary

Edward G. Hage, 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side, on December 26, 2022, at the Waterville Residential Care Center, where they have resided since September 2021.  Born in Amsterdam, N.Y., to Joseph and Christine Hage, Ed attended St. Mary's Catholic Schools.  He proudly served in the Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War.  On February 8, 1953, he married the former Monica Califano, in Amsterdam, N.Y.  The couple moved from Amsterdam to Utica and eventually settled in New Hartford in 1966.  Ed was the owner of Ed Hage Carpet Service.  He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church and loved the NY Yankees and SU Basketball.

Left to mourn him along with his wife Monica, are his three daughters Diane Finch, Donna (Mike) Morris, and Janet Bednarz, three granddaughters, Amanda (Chuck) Lydon, Rebecca (Mark) McFarland, and Claudia Morris, three grandsons Michael Morris, Christopher and Nicholas Bednarz, and four great-grandchildren

Chloe and Charlie, Garrett and Parker, along with several nieces and nephews.  Ed was pre-deceased by his parents, siblings and their spouses Thomas (Helen) Hage, Michael Hage, Marion (Stanley) Gryscavage, and Rose Hage,  in-laws Ralph and Louise Califano (Monica's parents) and her siblings and their spouses Regina (Chester) Watroba and Angelo (Dolly) Califano, and his son-in-law James Finch.

The family would like to thank the staff at WRCC for all the kindness and care shown to Ed over the past several months.

There will be no calling hours or service per Ed's wishes. Arrangements are under the guidance of John L. Matt Funeral Home Chadwicks, N.Y.
