Dorothy Jean
Bernhardt
July 31, 1934 – February 1, 2025
Dorothy Jean (Rudolph) Bernhardt, age 90, surrounded by her family, passed away on February 1st, 2025 after a brief illness.
Dorothy was born to Willard Rudolph and Dorothy Grace Rudolph July 31st of 1934, at their home in Oneida Castle.
Dorothy joins her husband William Bernhardt, son Charles Hudson II, daughter Shelly Laurin, and her three sisters, Wanda Casolare, Shirley Teft, and Elizabeth Relyea in heaven.
She is survived by her son, Jeff (Susan) Hudson of New Hartford, daughter Kelly Bernhardt Kowalski and her fiancé Richard Sylvester of Munnsville, her grandchildren Julia (Will) Phillips of Marcy, Kayla (Bryan) McNabb of Danville Kentucky, and Jessica (Dylan) Lemay of Bouckville, that were the light of her life, as well as her great-grandchildren Royce, Axton, and Graham. She had many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy spent much of her life as a homemaker, lovingly raising her children and was proud of her employment with the New York State Police Troop D barracks in Oneida as a secretary, as well as her involvement as the Vice President of the Republican party in Kentucky during the Reagan administration. She was an artist and she had a passion for wildlife and travel.
There will be no public calling hours; there will be a private burial and grave side service in the spring at the convenience of the family, where she will be at her final resting place with her husband William at Oneida Castle cemetery.
If you wish to honor Dorothy, she was an avid supporter of St Jude's children's hospital.
A special thank you to the nursing staff at Hamilton Hospital and to Hospice for all their kind and compassionate care.
