Mr. Donald F. Wheeler, 81 of Sauquoit, NY departed this life Saturday, May 24, 2014, in the comfort of his home with his loved ones by his side. Don was born October 05, 1932, the son of the late Irene DeVere and Earl Wheeler and raised by his grandparents Bessie and Floyd Wheeler. He was educated locally and was a gifted mechanic. He was married to the former Marlene Harb for 59 years, who he loved loved dearly. He was the superintendent of grounds at Sauquoit Valley School. Keeping his memory alive in their hearts, he leaves his beloved wife Marlene and his daughters Linda M. Wheeler and Gail A Rutledge & her fiancé Stephen Welty, his beloved grandchildren, Jessica,Ryan, Stephanie, Nick, Rachael, Kaitlin, Deidre, Stephen and four great grandchildren, Zachary, Maxx, Jacob, and Corbin. He also leaves his sister, Betty Hayduk and family, brother-in-law, David V. Harb and wife Kathy and family, a special friend, Russ Hocking and his loving and caring family, special nephews, nieces and cousins. Don was pre-deceased by his beloved son, Gary D. Wheeler, whom he dearly missed. Services will be held on Wedenesday, May 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, NY, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Family will greet guests at the conclusion of the mass in the vestibule of the church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Crown Hill Memorial park. There are no calling hours.
