CORONATO, Derek John , formerly of Sauquoit, NY departed from this life peacefully with his loving wife and his close friends and family by his side on April 30, 2024. Derek was a graduate of Camden High School class of 1982.
Derek was an Assistant Manager of overnights at Hannafords in Washington Mills, NY. He loved to work where he could help people. Derek was such a handy man. He could fix or repair anything. He loved to tinker on cars, trucks, and snowmobiles, anything with an engine. He loved watching the WWE on tv, a passion he learned from his parents. He loved to watch NASCAR, go camping, watch fireworks and travel to visit friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ella and Joe Coronato, and several aunts and uncles. His in laws James (2015) & Shary Meade (2007).
He is survived by his wife Barbara of 23 years, his brothers Ralph & Kim Leiter,Robert and Nancy Royce, David and Debbie Dowd, his aunt Evelyn Petrie, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jacklyn and Robert Sanchez, Nieces Amanda Williams, Olivia Sanchez and Nephews Adam Branham, Michael David and Gabriel Sanchez. Plus many special friends and Great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies Cali, Milo and Legacy and Butterscotch, Penelope, Chloe, Sonic and Oliver..
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for their compassion and care for Derek. If you desire, memorial contributions can be made to (American Stroke Association/Palliative Care/SPCA) ?
Honoring Derek's wishes, there will be no service. A memorial and celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Lairdsville United Methodist Church, 6925 NY-5, Clinton, NY From 10-11 to gather and the service will be 11-12. The family invites you to join them downstairs immediately following the memorial to share your memories of Derek and join us for food and refreshments.
