Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad Charles F Houck Jr., age 87 of Rome, NY. Charles was born on 10/17/1938 to Charles F Houck and Nancy E (Corleto) Houck in Utica, NY. He graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1956. After graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. After his military service went on to have a long and successful 35 year career for the United States Federal government with the 485th Engineering Group at Griffiss Air Force Base. He retired from the government in 1994 and ended up “unretiring” and had another career working for Par Technology. He had a passion for golf, bowling, fishing and birdwatching. Hummingbirds were his favorite. He enjoyed his boat on Lake Delta and bass fishing on Leland Ponds. He was an avid golfer always seeking to perfect his game. Summers were spent golfing in NY and during the winter months he enthusiastically played golf on the scenic and challenging courses of Myrtle Beach, SC with his good friends Mike Smith, John Roman, Biz and so many others from all over the northeast and Canada. He was also a Licensed Private Pilot and thoroughly enjoyed flying airplanes.
