Catherine “Tina” Caggese, 90, of Utica, NY, departed this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 in the comfort of her home with her loved ones by her side.

She was born in Scandale, Province of Crotone, Calabria, Italy the daughter of the late Giovanni and Isabella Demma Scara and was educated there and came to the US in 1954. She attended Proctor High School.

In 1957 she was united in marriage to Vincent Caggese and maintained that loving union for thirty years until his passing on May 14,1987.

Tina was a seamstress with Joseph & Feiss retiring in 1987. She was a devoted communicant to St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish and was always one to help at the festivities at the church and was a member of the St. Ann Society.

She will be sadly missed by her family sons; Cosimo Caggese and his wife Josephine, North Carolina,

Anthony Caggese, Rome,NY; her-son-in-law who was another son to her, Ronald Cerminaro

She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Jesse Cerminaro who died on Feb 29,2024.

Grandchildren; Vincenzo Caggese, G. “Sonny” and Michaela Caggese and Patrick Cerminaro; great granddaughters; Sienna, Vayda and Gianna Caggese. Also surviving her sisters; Rosaria Scara and Saverena Scara, of Italy.

Tina’s Celebration of life will be held at 12 noon on Monday August 24, 2026 at St. Mary of Mt Carmel Blessed Sacrament Parish, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Salerno. Entombment will be at the convenience of the family at Calvary Cemetery. There will be an opportunity to greet the family after the mass.
