Obituary

Caroline Kelsey, nee Socci, born December 25, 1930, died peacefully with her family at her side on July 2, 2021.  She was 90 and was predeceased by her parents Mr. & Mrs. Michael and Agnes Socci.  Many close aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also went before her.

Caroline; or, Grandma as she was currently known, was born in Italy and grew up in a close knit family in New York, New York deciding to finally make Central NY her home to be close to her eldest daughter.   Now that she has moved on to the life after death to be with the one true God and creator, she leaves behind those who will miss her love, guidance, support, and friendship.

Daughter Judith L. (Judy) Kentile, with grandchildren Adam, Evan, and John (a/k/a Doody);

Son Dr. David M. Kelsey (now that the likes of Jill Biden have lowered the bar for this moniker, Caroline was very proud to finally be able to say that she has a Doctor in the family);

Daughter Jennifer J. Pecorella and her husband Tony, with grandchildren Mia and Anthony;

Son Steven P. Kelsey, with grandson David M. Kelsey; and

Brother Anthony J. Socci predeceased by beloved sister-in-law Joyce Socci.

Caroline's nieces, nephews:

Mr. & Mrs. Michael and Pam Socci, with their son Michael;

Philip Socci;

Jonathan Kelsey and his wife Ellen, with children Adelaide and Parker;

Erin McBride, with children Colin, Ryan, and Aidan;

Sarah Kelsey.

Near the end Caroline had the benefit of some very special loyal friends that brightened her day with visits and companionship.  We would be remiss if we did not mention Andrea, Elaine, Martha, Nell, and Virginia.  These special souls touched all our lives and we are forever grateful for their love, understanding, patience, willpower, faith, compassion, and loyalty. The family is also grateful to the team at the Elm Unit of the Presbyterian Home.

With Caroline it was always family, family, family.  She was never happier than when she had her loved ones gathered around the table talking and laughing.  Cooking Italian cuisine was a passion for Caroline.  She also enjoyed reading, saying the rosary, and the lost art of handwritten correspondence.

We say goodbye with our thoughts and prayers for the repose of her soul.  If purgatory is a temporary stop along the journey, our collective prayers will help send her on her way to heaven way.

Caroline's Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 12:30 PM at St. Patrick St. Anthony Parish 3372 Oneida St., Chadwicks, NY 13319, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.  There will be no calling hours.  Upon the conclusion of the mass, the family will greet visitors.  Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, 2515 Church Rd., Clayville, NY 13322.  Masks should be left at home and personal contact is strongly encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, Caroline would ask that you do something special with a loved family member and/or visit somebody in a nursing home.

Arrangements under the guidance of John L Matt Funeral Home, Chadwicks, NY. To send an online greeting go to www.johnlmattfuneralhome.com
