Obituary

Betty M. White, 87, of Utica NY, passed away on Thursday April 16, 2015 at the Masonic Care Facility. Betty was born on May 7, 1927 the daughter of Wallace and Hazel McAlla in Clifford, Pennsylvania. She was a devoted mother, homemaker and volunteer. Betty loved to cook and bake and everybody loved what she made. There are still many households that have a Betty White recipe as one of their favorites. She enjoyed camping especially at Cape Cod. Over the years, the family relocated a number of times; Penn State, Binghamton, Worcester, Geneseo, New Hartford, and Eustis Florida, and in each new location Betty quickly became part of the community. In New Hartford she was a deacon at New Hartford Presbyterian church and taught Sunday school. In Florida she served as president of her PEO chapter. Also as a Florida resident for over 20 years with annual passes to Disney World and Sea World, visits from the grandchildren were not uncommon. She was an avid supporter of the Orlando Magic. Also she found time to earn a life membership by volunteering for over 5000 hours at the Florida Waterman Hospital. On March 2,1951 she married Lewis A White. In addition to her husband of 64 years she is survived by a son Terry White (Dulcie) of Rome and a daughter Nancy Wind (Robert) of Syracuse and 5 grandchildren, Megan, Andrew and Daniel White, and Benjamin and Rebecca Wind. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on 5/20/15 at the Acacia Village. Burial will be in the Clifford Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to thank the Masonic Care Facility staff for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made through donations to your favorite charity.
