Anthony V. Scarafile, of Utica, departed this life on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, with his loving family by his side. He was born Vito Antonio Scarafile, in Utica, the son of the late Joseph and Laura Scarafile and was educated locally, graduating from Proctor High School. On December 5, 1942, Anthony enlisted in the armed services where he served in the European Theatre of Operations of World War ll and was wounded April 4, 1945. He was decorated with the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Silver Star, American Campaign medal, Good Conduct medal and WWII Victory medal. Anthony was a member of the 100th Infantry division. Anthony married the former Carmela Sadie Millo and they shared a loving commitment of 65 years until her passing Nov 13, 2010. Anthony will be sadly missed by his two sons and daughter-in-law; Joseph Scarafile of Utica and Michael Scarafile & his wife Lori, and his beloved grandchildren, Charles and Michaela Scarafile all of New Hartford, NY. As per Anthony's request there are no public calling hours. A private family gathering will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church where a mass of christian burial will be offered by the Rev. Joseph Salerno, Pastor. Burial will be held in Calvary cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements under the guidance of the John L. Matt Funeral Home, Chadwicks, NY.
