Obituary

Andrew J. Anguish, 87 of Utica, NY departed this life peacefully on Wednesday Oct 2, 2024 at MVHS Rehab and Nursing Center, New Hartford, NY with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Utica, NY the son of the late Anthony and Lucy Bonacci Anguish. He attended local schools and was a graduate of TR Proctor High school class of 1955.

Andy enlisted in the US Air Force in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He spoke often about how much he loved the time he spent in Alaska.

On June 12,1971 he was united in marriage to the former Rosemary Guyleanella and shared this sacred vow for 53 years.

He was a member of Sheet Metal Union Local 58 for many years and was lastly employed by Utica Sheet Metal. Andy thoroughly enjoyed and was very respected by his peers in the field.

Andy had an enormous love for life and people. He especially loved golf and fishing. In earlier years he was an avid skier and served as a ski patrol. After retirement at the age of 58 he began a new career as the owner of the Skaters Edge. Through the years Andy was the beloved skate sharpener for many hockey families and made many lifelong friends, both young and old. In addition, he found much enjoyment hanging out with his sons and their friends, often smoking cigars and drinking beer. Utica Club and Modelo were his favorites. He was known for recounting stories of his numerous life's adventures.

He is survived  by his beloved wife Rosemary, and six children; Lori Piacentino, Karen Anguish, (Fran); David  Anguzza and his wife Denise; Andrea Elsenbeck and her husband Mark; Andrew Anguish III and wife Tara; Jason Anguish and his wife Kimberly. Grandchildren Steven , Christopher, Nicholas, Nina and Dylan, David,Chloe,Emily, Andrew IV, Nathan, Julia and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved canine companion Chino. Andy will be sadly missed by his neighbors on Remington Rd.

He was predeceased by his sisters Johanna Anguish and Mary Lourdes (Frank) LoConte and his granddaughter Nicole Dukerich.

Andrew's Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday  at 10 am at St Mary of Mt Carmel Blessed Sacrament Parish where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev Joseph Salerno with military honors conferred.

Family will greet visitors after the mass.
